Preventing Halloween Cavities

With Halloween coming up, here are some tips to prevent spooky cavities:

Avoid hard candies like lollipops.

Hard candies stay in your mouth for a long time, and this prolonged exposure allows bacteria in your mouth to create more acid which leads to cavities.

Avoid slowly snacking on candy.

It’s better to eat candy in shorter sessions rather than slowly eating it over time. Again, prolonged exposure allows bacteria in your mouth to create more acid which leads to cavities.

Rinse or brush after eating candy.

Rinsing and brushing can help reduce the amount of sugar and acid in your mouth after eating candy.

Keep brushing and flossing.

Brushing and flossing reduces the amount of bacteria that can cause cavities. Using fluoride toothpaste will help to remineralize damage caused by acid.
