Oral Health for Overall Health

Why is prevention important?

Investing in prevention can prevent costly and invasive procedures! Your oral health also affect your overall body health. Taking good care of your oral health will help you be healthier, look better (a confident smile is very attractive), and even smell better (no bad breath).

We provide several services to protect your oral health: sealants and fluoride to prevent cavities, prophylactic cleanings to prevent gum disease, regular exams to address problems early, and mouth guards to prevent trauma.

Sealants

Sealants are thin barriers placed on top of teeth to seal deep grooves and fissures. This prevents food particles and bacteria from getting into areas that your toothbrush can’t reach, reducing your chances of getting a cavity there.

At Smile Corners we will recommend sealants based on your individual needs and dental anatomy.

Prophylactic Cleanings

Prophylaxis (dental cleaning or prophy) is the removal of dental bacteria, plaque and calculus (tartar) from your teeth. Proper oral hygiene combined with regular dental visits can prevent gum disease and bad breath!

Mouth guards

Night guards (occlusal guards) are worn to prevent excessive wear and tear of your teeth. If you clench or grind your teeth at night, you will benefit from a night guard.

Sports mouth guards are appliances worn to prevent dental trauma during contact sports. Properly fitted mouthguards offer the best available protection against sports-related dental injuries.

Fluoride

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps teeth remineralize, strengthening them against cavities, and stopping or even reversing early cavities. Think of it as a vitamin for your teeth! This procedure is typically done after a cleaning, essentially painting a coat of protective fluoride on your teeth.
